Publicity stunt?

No publicity is bad publicity

They say, “no publicity is bad publicity”. What do you say? Well, my answer has a dash or moral police acting on me. To think otherwise, till the day publicity gives you popularity and makes you a household name or a common discussion topic, it is fine.

Otherwise, do you think people really pay attention to what is going on especially in the celeb world? Be it the famous scandals or the reality shows everyone uses his share of publicity in making himself popular. I mean who would otherwise bother to watch a reality show without a dash of abuses, slangs( with beeeeeeeeps for the audience) or a little of bitching against each other! These make the shows spicier and help in increasing the TRP’s.

Take the case of the Thackeray’s in Mumbai or the publicity stunt for a movie like My Name is Khan… no one looses a chance to make money out of these publicities. Had it been a calm going affair would people would never bother to pay attention on who the Sena people are or what the movie is all about. As publicity comes free of cost, your job is done and you get a share of attention too!

So, next time if you want to gather attention by hook or crook, you know what to do right? Grab your share and see the difference!!!

Pretty true. Now a days all the reality shows same things. They fight each other and there TRP increases. SO that publicity is common every where and more over when I ever I see these shows I dont feel any thing interesting as I know its publicity……

When you become a celebrity, any thing to every thing you do gets publicized. Fame comes publicly, and hence the vice verse being true too.
    Can’t avoid such things…

  4. Ranu Says:

    It’s wonderful blog & u r very true.
It has become the best ladder for celeb 2 reach the success.
Throwing tantrum and get notice very easily and come in the newz headline
or in the front page of news paper.

  5. Ranu Says:

keep it up xcellent job rejshree.

  6. SHIRISH Says:

Jo Dikhta Hai, Wohi Bikhta Hai – Its a proven point.

Shahrukh selling his movie with a publicity – no harm in it. After all he has spend millions of money to make a movie. And he has every rite to get his money back. Its business. He is using his own and pure Marketing ethics (in the form of publicity). I find on harm in doing so.

Thackeray, is talking about the moral values of Mumbaikars. Thackeray should not be a business man – trying to sell the moral values for MUMBAIKARS with cheap dirty publicity.

And talking about TV TRPs – they show what people want to see.

  7. mrudu Says:

first of all, i should thanks for grab a right topic to think about it & also congratulates u.

we all know very well, sometimes seek publicity by staging newsworthy events that attract media coverage because the simplest and most obvious publicity stunt is the press release. If you want to get attention it is the least expensive way of attempting to get the media interested.
on the outer side such of Serious publicity stunts include terrorist attacks, strikes, mass demonstrations, hijacks, kidnappings, hunger strikes, suicides, and murders.

Infect, many people would maintain that attempts to raise awareness of serious causes are not “stunts”. That depends on the point of view of the observer.the motives behind the show were serious to those who planned the events. don’t u think so….?

  8. ggopal krishna subudhi Says:

itits true that nothing will be marketable until you advertize it. But the way the sharukh and thackeray is doing the publicity is negative publicity. If you say something should not be done. By human tendency people will do the same for example there is an add smoking is injurious to health and people will smoke whats wrong with that similarly if there is lot of publicity in the movie obviously people will try to see that movie which recently happend in the amir movie in 3 idiots. Chetan bhagat has claimed that the story has been stolen and amir movie get publicized.

  9. Amar Deep Says:

It’s true, but wt can we do?we r watching as time pass and forget this….
in this publicity stunt everyone is involved including media also,we r just a common man and they are making money from it.so dn’t take it seriously, watch it and forget……………..

Forest officials say there are only 1124 tigers left in our country .well actually there are 1125 they’ve left out another tiger and dats “Bal Thakeray”.So do not write any thing about them else u will end up being famous.Thanx to their superb publicity.

By the way do u think that this is a combined effort of the sena n SRK to gain popularity.Well even this can happen as both the movie n Sena gained good popularity through this.

Lekin baat mein dum hai.u can think of a list of names that gained good popularity through publicity and topping the list would be “Rakhi Sawant”.

But i would like to congratulate Raj on doing this and would lay stress on telling her to keep doing this.

I will always be there to help u in any n every possible way.

Every 1 wants attention others like gals want how many boys flirt her or a boy how many gals trough a smile …. It’s all about grab the attention….. its very simple buddy life is a theater until and unless the theater is not houseful the play is flop so every 1 want to be hit………….

  12. Anand Says:

Good choice first of all……as this is a hot topic in the market now. Well to give my opinion on this…I would say its a very good option given by these press people for the common human being to publicise something they want to…and absolutely free of cost. Isnt that great…..Y should I leave a chance to publicise some thing in free of cost.

Dont u think these advertising agencies should shutt down their shutter now, as people are getting more publicity by a simple comment through NEWS.
my point here is, its a great opportunity for common people to be known in this unknown world, whether it is for good or Bad, if its bad also later you will become a famouse face of this socity and thats the root cause of making more money. I want give a simple example from Bigboss and want to talk about our own Vindu Dara Singh(although we know him now, but before the show hardly people knew him). Dont u think it helped him to win Bigboss because of all his actings in the show, to prove himself as a honest person. And do not forget he is now gonna judge one of the top dance show in Colors.

So, its all about making money by hook or cooke and getting fame.

  13. Surabhi Says:

good job raj…..I totally agree with u…..I went to watch My name is Khan because of all that publicity and came back disappointed……and those reality shows are absolute time waste!!!!
    Excellent work dear…

  14. Cibi Says:

well.. with the fantastic critical and finance response the movie received, i am pretty sure they are going to induct a new award into the National Awards aannnnddd…

“the BEST MALE SUPPORTING ACTOR FROM OUTSIDE THE MOVIE goes too.. BAAALLLL THACKERAYYYYY!!” 😀

  15. Dev Says:

I do agree to the fact “No Publicity Is Bad Publicity”…… But again have u ever given it a thought as to why people do all these tantrums…..

Now let me put the above in words….
Every society is divided into three catgories’ of people…
The Few – Who make things happen
The Many – Who see things happening, And
The Population – Who dont know whats happening

In our effort to make our presence felt we tend to follow whatever is thrown at us by the few…and thats how punlicity is obtained.. But again do we take the pain of JUDGING whatever we see or hear????? and thats where the know gets untied…..

Problem lies within us.. why blame others..
We can never escape publicity.. Its been there and it will continue to be.. But what needs to be digested and whats not will always remain in your hands..as u r the one controlling the remort….

  16. Suman Says:

Well said… Publicity can make or break things in this Hi-Tech world 🙂

    need to be cautious 🙂

  17. Deepshikha Routray Says:

    Kudooos to you!
public and publicity go hand in hand.”look I am here” is what everyone wants to say. everyone wants to break the shell and be in limelight but for some it is a sinister desire as for them the moto is “look at me , think about me, talk about me etc. its ME, ME AND ME , DAMN ANYBODY. The truth is that we are born as dissatisfied creatures, the more we get the more we want.
Once said ” ANYTHING IS FAIR IN LOVE AND WAR” IS NOW
“ANYTHING IS FAIR TO SHOT TO FAME”. The topography hardly matters, what matters is the peak.

  18. Deepak Virwani Says:

    Good One 🙂

  19. deepika Says:

hey…i think…pubilicty is all about marketing and sell your prouduct.millions of people idolise filmstars and politicians..but they keep everything aside, come forward to sell thier product…they go to the extreme end to publisize…..and we people need a topic to discuss ….in our dinning table….oops again we are enjoying by posting comments…..this is the world of advertisement…thats wat they are doing…no matter wat they are doing..the matter how smart you are?

    • yrajeshwari Says:

      dat was really encouraging !!

      • Poonam Says:

        hey rajeshwari,its a gud one n also true………….
consider ourshelves,we go for shopping n first we luk out for things tat has been published a lot may it be accessories , daily needs products or anything. So publicity is required very much in todays life as it is a easy way of reaching public……..even in the field of medical science publicity has become more important than the service provided….patients prefer visiting a hospital which has got more publicity than the one which provide proper care thats the reason competition is ther b/w the corporate hospitals.

Keep writing n all the best

      • yrajeshwari Says:

dats very true… corporate hospitals survive only on publicity !!

  21. Sudheer Says:

    nice one,
In todays world, change in the statgery to get attention.
Using New Sence to do non Sence and gaining publicity for making huge money

  22. Anil Says:

Good one…. but u have missed to touch the role of media in this.

“People create news, but the media converts it into publicity….”

  23. rajesh Says:

Intresting observation!!!….But dont you think such publicity stunts are an absolute waste of talent, time and money….I mean C’mon as an individual we have to fix so many issues around us…both personal n Proffesional alike…..so rather than waste ur energy watching such stale people, give a helping hand 2 sum1 in need….that will help u gain more publicity rather…and By the way I believe the reality shows are for those who cant throng the limelight themselves by their talents!!!…..So my Bottom line wud b ….”No News is Good News”
